Summer Wedding Guest Outfit Edit
My invitation to The Wedding this weekend must have been delayed in the post because I have yet to receive it. Nevertheless, one must stop crying into one’s cornflakes while watching Suits on repeat under the letterbox, and use this time instead to plan one’s outfit, in case there’s a last minute scramble at the palace to pull together a B-list.
The most crucial thing to remember is that you are walking into St George’s Chapel as a sacrificial lamb to the slaughter and will therefore be at the mercy of the savage journalists on the Mail Online “fashion” desk. If you’re going to wear a fallopian tube hat, three-inch platform Louboutin heels or, God forbid, a bolero, do so at your peril, because we’re all going to be able to access the photographic evidence in Google images for decades to come.
Of course, I don’t have a freaking clue how to balance that chic fine line between high-end escort and middle-aged Sloane frump so when my invitation does eventually arrive, I'll be pestering stylist Buffy Fitzgerald about what to wear. In fact, I already did.. Just in case...
My go-to for wow factor and elegance at a reasonable price is Needle and Thread. The detail and cut is breathtaking. My top choices for the Big Day would be:
Or if I was keeping up with the fashionistas or sitting next to Posh Spice, my dream dress would most certainly be from Borgo De Nor; they do the most sensational prints in the world. Art work in a dress.
The shoe dilemma for a wedding... Luckily I don't think this wedding will be one where you need to worry about the heel sinking into the grass lawn! My go-to for style and being able to dance the night away is Aquazurra. A good shoe doesn't leave you running around barefoot too early in the evening. Always pick a style that is strapped on so there is no accidental flinging them off and them landing on the head table!
TO FINISH OFF THE LOOK
I would only go to Jess Collett Milliner for my hat. Jess has it covered if you're looking for traditional elegance or wanting to stand out from the crowd! And of course it's very important to support our amazing UK talent.
